Our initial reviews took place last Thursday. Here are the study models we created using an additive and subtractive method in black foam core. The next model we built was in white museum board. Here we decided to break away from our rectilinear forms and experiment with the idea of using terrace-like forms to capture sunlight. This form is based on our original Digital Project model of the program for our school. We created a surface in Rhino through several of the points on our program model. Then we created contours on that surface and extruded them at three different heights to create our model.
During our review we received advice to consider the surface area of the walls and roof in individual classrooms. One of our goals with this project is to provide natural light for all of the classrooms. If we were able to increase the length of the walls facing the exterior and decrease the length of the walls between the rooms, the classrooms could have more windows. After our review, we also plan to reconsider how the rooms relate to the surface we created. Ceiling heights and floor heights might vary. We also would like to excavate the ground plane using a terrace method in order to create seating for the gym and auditorium.
oo! i like the photo of our model in the site. i might have to get that from you.
