Initial Study Model

Danielle and I discussed our ideas for a building concept and decided to each create a model with those values. By examining our analysis of the shadows on the site, we choose approximate locations for several of the program requirements. We also wanted to include several courtyards or an atrium to bring light into the building and provide common exterior areas. We imagined these courtyards or atrium spaces as perforations into the solid mass of our school. This led to an exploration of solid and void spaces using black foam core. We decided to build several study models using an subtractive-additive process in foam to explore these ideas further.
