Dec. 21 - 2 pmWe created a 3D shadows generator using surfaces in Digital Project. We drew a sketch of the elevation angle and the azimuth angle of the sun to create a reference angle for the shadows. Changing these parameters allows us to see the shadows on the site throughout the year.

After seeing the shadows three-dimensionally, we wanted to cut sections from those shapes to further understand the site conditions. We ended up creating solids from our joined surfaces we made previously and using a pocket to view the section cut. Plan views of the shadows on the site also helped us locate the darkest and lightest areas of the site. We choose to study the summer and winter solstices, June 21 and December 21, so that we would know the most extreme cases of sun and shade.
