Whahoo! Finally we have a digital project model like our terraces from Rhino! We hope to use parameters to explore various ceiling height options and the experiment with the width of the terraces. We need to figure out how to import more curves either from AutoCAD or rhino so that we can add the stairways to this model. Then we plan to experiment with connect curve in order to create the exciting new surface that encloses our four schools into one building and covers the atrium. We've been working out a lot of the details in plan as well, including stairways, elevators, storage, classrooms, and stairways. Today in class we discussed several things we plan to work on.
1. Difference in thickness of walls. For example, the glass walls of the classrooms facing the courtyard should be 6" thick, where the walls between the classrooms should be 1' thick. This would help our plans read from a greater distance.
2. Thickness of hallways can vary along their length - this would allow the classrooms to become more rectangluar making it easier to add entrances
3. Shared Program connections - we have no clear solution for this currently. Karl suggested an interesting proposal for connecting the shared program which involves branching out the program between the schools.
During our pinup on Tuesday, we discussed the layout of our plans for the final review. We would like to add tone to the plans in order to distinguish larger programatic elements from circulation. We also considered printing each plan on a separate sheet and creating a section that relates to each plan.
